Requirements of the Role

Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Home

* Care for Children: Enrich the lives of young people in our care, help them create a positive future, and keep them safe.
* Advocate for Young People: Empower the voice, rights, and lived experiences of children in the home. Ensure they are consulted about their care and empowered to influence the running of the home.
* Support the Registered Manager: Assist in managing the home in line with the ethos of Juventes Homes Limited—creating an environment that enables each child to reach their full potential and promotes positive behaviour.
* Safeguarding Oversight: Ensure the Responsible Individual is informed of any significant safeguarding or child protection concerns.
* Promote Wellbeing: Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring their wellbeing is the paramount consideration in all aspects of care.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with families, professionals, and partner agencies involved in the young person's support network.
* Multi-Agency Collaboration: Represent Juventes Homes Limited within multi-agency frameworks to ensure positive outcomes and robust safeguarding.
* Incident Reporting: Ensure all serious events are reported within 24 hours to the appropriate individuals and authorities.
* Care Planning: Deliver care in line with written placement plans and ensure ongoing assessment, development, and review of individual plans according to policy timelines.
* Record Monitoring: Collaborate with the management team to monitor and review key working records, including risk assessments, in line with organisational policy.
* Medication Management: Store and administer medication in accordance with legal and organisational guidelines.
* Nutrition & Health: Ensure the home provides a healthy, balanced diet and promotes physical and emotional wellbeing.
* Scheduling & Attendance: Coordinate and attend events, appointments, and meetings with or on behalf of young people.
* Confidentiality: Protect the privacy of children, young people, and their families.
* Holistic Development: Promote education, health, emotional wellbeing, and cater to social, leisure, cultural, and religious needs.
* Admissions Support: Contribute to referral, assessment, and admission procedures.
* Resource Management: Manage time and resources effectively, including financial expenditure and accurate recording.

Regulatory Responsibilities

* Legal Fitness: Meet all checks required under Regulation 32 of the Children's Homes Regulations
* Legislative Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, Children Acts, and relevant guidance.
* Audit Compliance: Respond to audit and inspection findings within required timeframes.
* Accountability: Report to Senior Residential Support Workers, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, Responsible Individual, Registered Provider, and Ofsted.
* Equality & Diversity: Uphold legislation and promote inclusive practice.
* Policy Adherence: Implement and follow all policies and procedures to meet legal obligations.
* Health & Safety: Ensure the safety of children, staff, and visitors by adhering to relevant legislation and procedures.
* Safeguarding Protocols: Immediately notify line management of safeguarding concerns and follow all local and national guidelines.
* Quality Standards: Support the team in delivering an OFSTED Outstanding standard of care.

Premises Responsibilities

* Environmental Standards: Support the Registered Manager in maintaining a positive, comfortable, hygienic, and homely physical environment.
* Maintenance Reporting: Report repairs or damage promptly and ensure necessary actions are taken to maintain safety.

Person Specification

Desirable Experience

* Paid or voluntary work with children
* Experience supporting young people
* Multidisciplinary team experience
* Therapeutic engagement with young people

Desirable Knowledge

* Emotional and behavioural difficulties, CSE, PSB, learning disabilities, and challenging behaviours
* Local authority care planning duties and children's home responsibilities
* Ofsted inspection framework
* Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation
* Rights and entitlements of children in care
* Roles of professionals/agencies supporting children
* Cultural, racial, and religious sensitivity

Qualifications

* QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (or willingness to obtain within 2 years)
