Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically biased)
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Shift: Double day shift (06:00 - 16:00 / 14:00 - 22:00)
Salary: £45,000+ (competitive), company pension scheme, discretionary bonus (performance-based), 25+ annual leave days + bank holidays, overtime, substantial training
A leading manufacturing company within the construction sector is seeking an electrically biased multiskilled maintenance engineer to join their well-established engineering team. This role offers security and stability, with opportunities for progressive training and development in a supportive environment.
Skills and Qualifications
* 18th Edition Electrical wiring regulations
* HNC, City and Guilds, or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or similar)
* Minimum of 5+ years industry experience in high-volume manufacturing
* Proficient in planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and mechanical machinery
* Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including single-phase and three-phase machinery, relays, switches, sensors, and panel wiring
* Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings
* Knowledge of CAD or similar software
* Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, belts, chains, pulleys, conveyors, gearboxes
* PLC knowledge is highly desirable
* Understanding of cold rolling and cold pressing processes (desirable)
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation, quality, and environmental regulations (desirable)
Responsibilities
* Routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance across the site
* Diagnose and propose solutions for engineering plant breakdowns and failures
* Improve performance, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of systems
* Design and modify manufacturing equipment and processes
* Support the development of new electrical parts, products, tooling, and processes
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, environmental, and sustainability policies
* Participate in training and continuous professional development
