📍 Location: Tilbury, Essex
🕘 Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00

An established and highly regarded freight forwarding company with over 40 years’ experience is looking to expand its commercial team with a Sales & Development Executive. Based in Tilbury at the heart of the South East’s shipping industry, this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic logistics firm specialising in global imports and exports via sea, air, road, and rail.

About the Company

Operating from modern offices with excellent transport links, this business is an AEO-accredited freight forwarder with a strong focus on Far East ocean imports. Their extensive global network and direct DTI links to all major UK ports and airports enable them to deliver efficient, cost-effective transport solutions. The company places high value on sustainability, ethical trading, and excellent staff relations.

The Role

As a Sales & Development Executive, you’ll be a key part of the growth strategy—responsible for identifying and securing new business across all transport modes. You’ll play a hands-on role in both office-based and client-facing activities to build strong, profitable relationships.

Key Responsibilities

*

Proactively generate new business leads and convert sales opportunities

*

Grow sales across FCL/LCL sea freight, air freight, and road freight (imports and exports)

*

Collaborate with the Sales and Operations teams to develop leads and nurture accounts

*

Visit clients and attend meetings as part of a flexible, field-based approach

*

Prepare accurate and professional quotations, including all necessary terms and conditions

*

Maintain a high standard of customer service and relationship management

What We’re Looking For

*

Minimum 2 years of freight sales experience (sea, air, and road)

*

Proven success in sales and business development within freight forwarding

*

Strong understanding of global logistics and supply chain operations

*

Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills

*

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

*

High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills

*

Friendly, approachable, and motivated personality

*

A collaborative team player with strong English and maths skills

*

(Desirable) Existing transferable business contacts or client portfolio
