We are currently looking for a Design Engineer to join Prismatic Ltd. based in Alton. This will be an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join a dynamic team working on developing a new Uncrewed Air System (UAS).
Tasks and Accountabilities
* Defining and carry out engineering tasks within your span of responsibility.
* Agreeing your work plan with your line manager and applying the most efficient engineering methods available.
* Discharging tasks to cost and on time to meet technical quality and integrity requirements and business needs.
* Confirming all work is in line with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed.
* Help to implement new quality, design and manufacturing processes using exciting industry experience to develop new Technical Standards.
* Ensuring effective interactions with team, suppliers, and others to promote the best interests of the team, department, and company.
* Design of composite parts and understanding of manufacturing methods and inspection.
* Assisting with the production of documentation and the testing and development of the UAS with a continual iterative design process.
* Seek mass and lightweighting options.
* Assist where required with the structural testing and analysis of the airframe working within the team to develop the testing and analysis methods.
Qualifications/Experience/Interests

* Knowledge of industry standard CAD packages, preferably SolidWorks.
* Hold a bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject preferably engineering, mathematics, or equivalent professional qualifications in terms of formal education.
* Proven and relevant industry experience working within the aerospace industry and/or design engineering related disciplines.
* Experience of working with design or analysis documentation.
* Experience of applying mechanical principles to a project to meet a deadline.
* Experience of following technical standards and procedures.
* Ability to manage own workload both relatively independently and as part of a team.
* Proactive approach to problem solving.
* Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
* Ability to travel (UK and internationally).
* Experience working within an ERP, PLM or PDM systems.
* Involvement in structural testing including preparation and evaluation of test documentation and evidence.
* Experience reviewing and checking CAD models and drawings.
* Work with third party suppliers to find/ensure manufacturability of components.
* Experience of early life cycle design and developing into production assets.
* Ability to manage multiple packages of work liaising with various people cross-functionally to meet project requirements.
* Experience with R&D programs, ideally with challenging ‘cutting edge’ technology.
* background in large UAS or aircraft development.
