An opportunity has arisen due to a longstanding consultant colleague retiring. We seek a motivated and enthusiastic CAMHS consultant psychiatrist to join the consultant group in Lambeth CAMHS for an initial 6‑month period, providing dynamic clinical expertise and leadership to our integrated neurodevelopmental pathway.
The post holder will be based within the Neurodevelopmental Pathway and River Team for 10 PAs per week, based on mutual agreement.
Additional clinical activity: 7.5 PAs of direct clinical activity within the neurodevelopmental pathway, including time in the ADHD medication clinic.
Professional development time: 2.5 PAs dedicated to structured professional activities, including service development, clinical governance, quality improvement, continuous professional development and other professional pursuits.
Responsibilities
* Assessment and management of children and young people, providing psychiatric input for both routine and emergency care.
* Provide strong clinical leadership and vision in collaboration with the Pathway Lead for the integrated NDP in Lambeth CAMHS.
* Supervise non‑consultant medical staff; the post holder should be or become an accredited clinical supervisor.
* Attend and chair clinical meetings and external meetings (e.g., DSR, SEN, tripartite), as scheduled.
* Liaise and communicate with the MDT, other professionals, teams and agencies.
* Provide consultation and advice to other CAMHS teams.
* Participate in peer and group supervision meetings.
* Participate in training of medical students, psychiatric residents and multidisciplinary staff.
* Adhere to the agreed job plan and appraisal procedures set by the Trust.
* Maintain GMC registration, a License to Practice, and engage in CPD to remain in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Maintain Section 12 and Approved Clinician approval; if not already approved, the post holder will become so promptly.
* Provide cover for colleagues where required.
* Attend monthly Senior Management Team meetings and fulfil SMT member roles and responsibilities as a clinical leader.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Consultant‑level experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
* GMC registration.
* License to Practice.
* Approved to hold Section 12 status and Approved Clinician status (or willing to acquire these).
* Accredited clinical supervisor or willing to achieve accreditation.
