Overview
Operator I: Entry Level Operator at Johnson Matthey. Location: Brimsdown. Employment type: Full-time, fixed term 12 month contract.
As the Entry Level Operator, you’ll contribute to JM’s mission as a world leader in sustainable technology, transforming energy and reducing carbon emissions for a cleaner, brighter future. The role involves supporting the operations team in performing operator activities and adhering to the production schedule to ensure on-time delivery of quality product. The role path can lead towards becoming a skilled Operator through a programme of on- and off-the-job training to operate intricate equipment, chemical processes, and industrial processes.
Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for your own safety, comply with JM’s safe working practices and PPE requirements, and contribute to a healthy and safe working environment.
* Follow relevant process documentation such as risk analyses, process instructions and standard work documents.
* Complete batch sheets and handovers to ensure continuous production.
* Suggest process improvements within area of responsibility.
* Ensure adherence to 5S standards; collaborate with team members to drive the proactive operator programme, participate in failure investigations, and report reliability issues within the plant.
* Carry out basic preventative maintenance checks.
Key skills and qualifications
* Understanding of EHS and its importance in the workplace.
* No prerequisite experience required; previous experience in the chemical process industry, engineering and/or manufacturing is desirable.
* GCSEs in English, Maths and Science or equivalent.
* Understanding of large-scale complex manufacturing facilities/plants.
* Willing to work 12-hour day and night shifts including weekends and bank holidays on a 4s and 5s shift pattern.
