🚛 Transport Operations Manager - General Haulage & Pallet Network

💰 Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
🕒 Hours: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
Our client is a well-established general haulage operator providing nationwide transport and distribution services. As proud members of a leading pallet network, they are dedicated to delivering high-quality service, efficiency, and reliability.
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to oversee their busy fleet operation and play a key role in managing day-to-day transport activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the daily running of a mixed fleet operation (artics, rigids, and vans).
* Lead and motivate a team of drivers and transport office staff.
* Plan and monitor routes to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation, including tachographs, driver hours, and vehicle maintenance.
* Liaise effectively with customers, suppliers, and pallet network partners.
* Monitor performance against KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
* Maintain Health & Safety, FORS, and compliance standards.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Transport Manager who thrives in a fast-paced general haulage environment and has a solid background working within a pallet network operation.
Essential Experience & Skills:
* Proven experience in a Transport Management or similar leadership role.
* Strong knowledge of pallet network operations and general haulage.
* Excellent understanding of transport compliance and operational legislation.
* CPC qualification (National or International)
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Proficient in using transport management systems (TMS).
