Contract 12-month fixed term/Secondment post
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our well-established Children and Young People's OT Service. You will provide high-quality assessment and intervention for children and young people (0-18) across community settings in Manchester.
We are seeking a proactive clinician with specialist paediatric skills, able to lead on assessment, clinical reasoning and treatment planning. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families, colleagues and partner agencies are essential.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years' experience working as an OT working with children
* Postgraduate learning in sensory integration and/or neurological conditions
* HCPC registration
* Car owner/driver with full UK licence
* Valid work permit
* Enhanced DBS check
Main duties of the job
* To provide an efficient and high quality, highly specialised OT service for patients within the specialist community setting.
* To take part in Continual Professional Development, clinical audit, research activities and in-service training within specialist area
* To identify and progress opportunities for service development.
* To provide a specialist children & young people's community Occupational Therapy Service for children with highly complex health, educational and social needs.
* To assess the functional, psychological, social and educational needs of children & young people referred. This includes those with chronic and terminal illnesses, mental health and learning disabilities at home and school environment.
* To provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service to both complex and highly complex cases developing effective treatment plans ensuring their implementation to reduce the impact of disability to the child & young person's daily life.
* To take a lead role in the teaching and supervision of Occupational Therapy staff, OTAs and students.
* To deputise for the OT team leader as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* State Registration with the Health and Care Professional Council
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Post graduate courses relevant to OT e.g. Sensory integration training and/or CIMT, hand splinting
Knowledge/Experience
* Significant post qualification experience working with children and young people
* Previous experience of working with children & young people
* Documented evidence of CPD
* Ability to prioritise, delegate and organise caseload
* Able to work independently.
* Basic IT Skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to communicate effectively with children & young people of all ages and abilities.
* Ability to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and tact.

Salary
£49,387 to £56,515 a year, pro rata
