Financial Controller
The Financial Controller will lead the finance and accounting function (Payroll Manager, Payroll Admin, Billings Manager and Accounts Assistant), ensuring robust financial control, compliance, and reporting. This role will play a key part in supporting strategic decision-making, managing budgets, streamlining financial processes, and ensuring alignment with company goals.
The role:
* Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
* Monitor and optimise cash flow, working capital, and liquidity management.
* Manage banking relationships and oversee debt and financing facilities.
* Develop internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate financial risk.
* Ensure robust systems for fraud prevention, expense control, and regulatory compliance.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, financial accountability, and transparency.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, and Business Support to align finance with business needs.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
* Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial and tax regulations.
* Manage the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors.
* Develop and monitor key financial KPIs and performance metrics across divisions.
* Analyse costs, pricing, and profitability across service lines and contracts.
* Provide financial input for new bids, contract renewals, and commercial proposals.
* Collaborate with operations and HR to ensure accurate labour costing and forecasting.
* Support financial modelling for strategic initiatives, acquisitions, or expansion plans.
Skills & Experience Required:
* ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified Accountant
* A proven track record in a similar role as Financial Controller or Finance Manager
* Experience working within a service-based industry would be an advantage e.g. facilities management and commercial cleaning
* Experience with multi-site operations and complex payroll with a large workforce
