The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at the New Victoria Hospital and GGH Theatre Suite are seeking scrub practitioners to join their teams.
You should be a First Level Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in the perioperative environment is desirable. The DSU at the New Victoria includes 8 theatres, a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), a treatment room, and a 23-hour stay ward. The theatres cover specialties such as Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, Gynaecology, Plastics, and Pain Service. The department aims to increase capacity, requiring staff to care for patients with increasingly complex needs, aligned with British Association of Days Surgery (BADS) standards.
GGH Theatre Suite comprises 13 theatres with specialties including General Surgery, Brachytherapy, Oncoplastic/Breast Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics, and Interventional Radiology. Previous peri-operative experience is advantageous but not essential, as the department offers team support and ongoing education.
Both units are fast-paced, and collaborative working is essential. Staff may need to work in multiple areas during shifts. The units promote ongoing personal and professional development. Flexibility is required, including becoming Dual Trained and skilled in at least two areas, such as Scrub and Anaesthetics.
Applicants should be prepared to engage in multi-site working within South Sector NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to meet service needs. Evidence of current or expected NMC/HCP registration is required before starting. Candidates unable to provide confirmation of registration by the start date will not be shortlisted.
