Location: Hastings Hub, East Sussex

Reports To: Deployment Team Leader

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (alternating between days and nights)

Pay: Blended rate of £13.13 p/h (starting from £26,358.43 per year based on expected hours)


If you’re looking for a fast-paced and rewarding role in a vital area of Mental Health Care Logistics, this is your opportunity! As part of our Communications & Deployment Team, you’ll be at the heart of operations—coordinating specialist mental health transport across the UK and supporting the safe movement of vulnerable individuals during critical times.


Experience is preferred but not essential—full training will be provided. We’re looking for calm, proactive, and highly organised individuals who can think on their feet and communicate effectively in demanding situations.


This role is crucial to ensuring patient safety, seamless communication, and efficient service delivery. It requires emotional resilience, the ability to make quick decisions, and the professionalism to handle sensitive or distressing information. In return, you’ll join a supportive team and play a key role in transforming patient experiences through safe, compassionate care logistics.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will coordinate patient transport activity and support crews across the UK, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant service provision. Key responsibilities include:


Communication & Coordination

*
Respond to incoming calls and emails promptly and professionally



*
Dispatch MHTA crews to bookings, balancing patient risk, resource availability, and cost efficiency



*
Provide real-time logistical support to internal teams, external stakeholders, and partner agencies




Data & System Management

*
Accurately record booking information to ensure crews have all required details



*
Maintain proficiency in command-and-control software, mapping tools, and internal IT systems



*
Populate data logs, reports, and operational dashboards with accurate, up-to-date information




Operational Support

*
Ensure service delivery aligns with legislation, service guidelines, and company policies



*
Record and escalate complaints, compliments, and operational issues appropriately



*
Support rota creation and crew planning through accurate recording of absences and availability




Compliance & Safety

*
Ensure all operations follow CQC, IMF, Working Time Directive, and Secure Care UK guidelines



*
Accurately report incidents and support investigations as required



*
Lead by example in downtime duties, audits, and compliance checks




Training & Development

*
Support the induction and training of new Communications & Deployment Coordinators



*
Participate in staff development, supervision, and performance reviews



*
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and best practice guidance




Additional Duties

*
In exceptional circumstances (and after training), work as a crew member supporting patient transport



*
Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by Senior Management to support the service

Requirements
Essential

*
Ability to remain calm under pressure



*
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)



*
Strong IT literacy and ability to learn new systems



*
Effective problem-solving skills



*
Ability to work as part of a team



*
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)




Preferred

*
1 year experience using phones in a professional setting



*
1 year experience using computer systems



*
Enhanced DBS from within the last 3 years
