Tesco Shift Leader - Days - Eston Cleveland Extra
Join Tesco as a Shift Leader. The role involves supporting store operations, helping customers, coaching colleagues, and ensuring a safe, well-presented store environment. The role is full-time with flexible hours and a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week (minimum 12 hours if requested).
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Lead duty shifts, coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be available to assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
* Coach colleagues, provide feedback, and look for ways to improve service
* Support in-store colleagues and maintain a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist managers in actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example for the team
Availability & Hours
Availability windows will be scheduled within set times with 3 weeks notice of shifts. Flexibility is supported if your times closely match but are not exact to those advertised.
Available shifts include (example): Sun 16:00-23:00, Mon 05:00-14:00, Tue 05:00-14:00, Fri 15:00-24:00, Sat 15:00-24:00. A minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week is offered, with options for 12 hours if requested.
Qualifications & Requirements
* 18 years or older to apply
* Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team
* Ability to oversee store operations in the absence of a manager
* Commitment to excellent customer service and a safe, well-presented store
You will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team to deliver a smooth shopping experience
* Supporting colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks
* Opening/closing the store and duty coverage with safety in mind
* Being the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of management
* Maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation of the store
* Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events
* Contributing to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere
* Providing excellent customer service and keeping the team informed of communications and updates
* Staying informed about store performance and seeking ways to improve operations
* Leading by example and helping remove obstacles to great service
