The opportunity:
We are looking for a Mid-Market Construction Underwriter to join our well-established existing team in the south-east. Working predominately with both our regional and global brokers the ideal candidate will provide underwriting expertise and first-class service to brokers and customers, with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth, managing complex portfolios, building strong business relationships and meeting business objectives.
What will you be doing?
Well, you can expect no two days to be the same, you’ll be working with your team and reporting into a Business Manager as well as interacting with brokers and intermediaries daily.
We need you to provide a standout service experience for customers and stakeholders and be responsible for delivering quality and timely solutions for them. This means taking ownership of own workload and supporting colleagues to deliver our collective workload - it’s all about being a team player!

Key responsibilities:
• Develop profitable business with a group of Construction brokers & customers.
• Manage clients and leading broker relationships interacting with risk managers.
• Responsible for overall service proposition on key broker accounts.
• Underwrite and negotiate insurance contracts.
• Demonstrate knowledge of relevant systems, products, processes and procedures to be able to provide a first class experience for Customers (both internal and external).
• Ongoing self-development and learning, coaching others where appropriate.
• Promote continuous improvement and process efficiency.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
What are we looking for?
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked in Insurance or Financial Services before, what we really need is a willingness to learn, develop and be part of the team! If you also have underwriting experience that would be great (especially within Construction) but what we are really looking for is passion and a desire to succeed.
In this role, communication will be key as you will work with a lot of functions to ensure customers experience our full proposition. You should be comfortable making decisions using both data and your own judgement to provide the best outcomes for Zurich and our customers, as this is what is most important to us.
We’d like you to be happy to challenge processes and decisions using your attention to detail. You’ll naturally adapt your style to different workloads and pressures and be able to think on your feet. Finally, organisation and the ability to prioritise is really key, our customer is always foremost on our minds!
