Hours: 10 hours per day (Saturday working available)

Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a highways project based in Tuddenham, Norfolk. This is a long-term freelance contract opportunity offering a 12-month programme, with immediate interviews and a targeted start date of 9th March 2026. This position is strictly freelance (CIS) and is not available on a permanent or PAYE basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering drainage and infrastructure works, ensuring all site engineering duties are carried out accurately, safely, and in line with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting out for highways works including drainage, kerbing, earthworks and associated infrastructure
* Managing and overseeing drainage installations to specification
* Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, ITPs and RAMS
* Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) documentation
* As-built surveys and records
* Liaising with site management, subcontractors and design teams
* Ensuring health & safety compliance on site
* Supporting site supervisors and project management with daily engineering duties
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer on highways projects
* Strong drainage and setting out experience (essential)
* CSCS Gold Card (essential)
* SSSTS or SMSTS (essential)
* Ability to work 10-hour shifts with optional Saturday work
* Strong understanding of highways specifications and standards
* Own setting out equipment preferred (advantageous)
