Job Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Quality Assurance Summarising Team has arisen in NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) Primary Care Services. The post holder will be part of a team of trained Medical Records Summarisers who receive, prepare, keep an audit trail, summarise and return GP practices medical records.
Fixed Term / Secondment
This post is a Fixed Term/ Secondment until 31/03/2027 to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main Duties
The post holder will undertake the process of summarising clinical information from patients' medical records. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail in order to scrutinise, analyse and accurately summarise medical records. You will capture important clinical information from paper and electronically transferred medical records and input it directly into the GP Practices clinical systems using read codes, in adherence to the GMS contract requirements. An understanding and acceptance of the need for accuracy and strict confidentiality observance is required. All medical records must be recorded on arrival, ensure appropriate and safe storage and post-summarising transport of the records. A robust audit trail must be maintained throughout the process.
The post holder will need to liaise with GP practices to request missing information and ask specific queries. The post holder will also need to liaise with various internal stakeholders to retrieve, summarise and return medical records. They will work both as part of a team to complete the work and also use their own skills and knowledge whilst summarising.
Working Location
This post will be based in the following office, Matrix House Swansea.
