Overview
An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic Clinical Counselling / Psychologists to join the Adult Psychology Service within Dorset HealthCare. The role is part of the Adult Psychology Service, working with a range of CMHTs across Dorset. Both posts are 37.5 hours per week, with the possibility of a job share; one post is based at Kings Park Hospital in Bournemouth and the other at various locations in East Dorset.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessment, formulation and highly specialised therapy to adults across a range of presenting problems.
* Deliver and supervise clinical work, including complex assessments (e.g., capacity, dementia) to clinicians, trainee and assistant clinical psychologists.
* Offer expert advice to clients, families, carers, team members and external services.
* Support the Poole, Purbeck, Wimborne, Christchurch and Bournemouth Adult Community Mental Health Teams and contribute to service development.
* Maintain professional development, adhere to BPS and HCPC guidelines, and actively manage complex clinical situations.
* Participate in MDT supervision and consultation within the OPP team.
* Manage own initiative and act independently within the Trust.
Qualifications and Experience
* Membership of the HCPC.
* Post‑graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within clinical psychology.
* Experience of clinical supervision for trainee and assistant clinical psychologists.
* Experience of assessment and formulation in adults with Learning Disabilities.
* Formal training and experience in at least two psychological therapies.
* Competent knowledge of neuropsychological testing and capacity assessment.
* Evidence of continuing professional development, meeting BPS and HCPC guidelines.
* Demonstrable written and spoken English to a standard enabling the full range of duties.
* Capability of managing own initiative, working independently and travelling on Trust business.
Practical Information
Applicants must possess an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; the Trust will cover the cost. DBS update service applicants may present a valid DBS certificate. Candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible for this role.
