Environmental Consultant / Senior Consultant - Hydrogeology & Hydrology
SLR has an exciting opportunity for an early career hydrologist to join our team of water specialists. The role involves delivering Environmental Impact Assessment Report chapters, Environmental Appraisals, Flood Risk and Drainage Strategies. We welcome applicants ranging from graduates seeking progression to experienced Hydrology consultants, at grades from Project to Senior, or potentially at Associate or Principal level.
The position offers the chance to work within a large team of hydrologists, hydraulic modellers, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists, hydrochemists, and geochemists. It also presents opportunities for developing skills in business development, line management, mentoring, and project management. Our projects span the power, mining, and environmental sectors, which are key growth areas.
The Role:
Responsibilities include:
* Preparing EIA Reports and EA water environment assessments for planning applications;
* Conducting Water Framework Directive Assessments;
* Performing Private Water Supply risk assessments and Water Interest Surveys;
* Designing surface water monitoring programs;
* Undertaking surface water monitoring;
* Managing and preparing flood risk assessments for planning applications;
* Developing outline SuDS concept designs;
* Client liaison and project management;
* Training and mentoring junior team members.
This role is open to applicants across all UK offices, with significant water teams in London, Bristol/Bradford-upon-Avon, Manchester, Stoke, Nottingham, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Edinburgh.

What you will need
Candidates should have:
* A relevant academic qualification (HNC, HND, BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng) or equivalent;
* Effective communication skills;
* Progress towards chartered status with a relevant professional body;
* Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
* Ability to work independently and in a team;
* Strong relationship-building skills;
* Effective time management and a positive attitude;
* A full, valid UK driving license.
Experience in renewables and linear development projects is beneficial but not essential.
