We are looking for a Production Team Leader
Salary: £15.07 an hour
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Shift: Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm but needs to be flexible
JDR is recruiting for a Production Team Leader to work in a manufacturing site in Taunton, Somerset.
Role:
The Production Team Leader will provide oversight ensuring that production is kept in line with the weekly plan, ensuring quality, cost, GMP, food safety and health and safety standards are met at all times. The post holder will be expected to manage their continuous professional development keeping abreast of Health and Safety issues, good practice and manufacturing standards.

Collaborative Working: The Production Team Leader will work closely with, but not limited to:
* The Production Management team
* The Engineering Team
* The Health and Safety Manager
* The Technical Team
* The New Product Development Team
* The Supply Chain Team
* The HR department
* The Continuous improvement department
Delegation: In the event of absence, the Production Team leader is replaced by the other Team Leaders her/his deputies and Supervisors.
Health and Safety: In line with the health and safety management system policy of the group and the site, the Production Team leader must make Health and Safety a priority and take overall responsibility for setting and maintaining a culture of exemplary Health and Safety standards, including but not limited to:
* Ensuring all staff for whom he/she is responsible are aware of their own health and safety responsibilities and have been adequately trained to understand the risks, preventative measures and instructions for the area (in compliance with safety standards safety for the use of machines and tools, procedures and operating methods, PPE, safety protocol, etc.), Lead by example.
* Daily Safety briefs with teams
* Ensure training of SSOW is carried out as required and kept up to date on matrix
* Leading and reviewing H&S audits
* Is a driving force in risk prevention by proposing improvements to reduce risks and optimize working conditions.
* Lead and review accident investigations
* Lead site-based risk assessments
* Raise hazard forms as necessary
Food Safety: To set and lead a culture of food safety, reviewing plans to improve and maintain standards:
* Ensuring compliance and to follow the Quality / Hygiene / processes
* Participating in updating any elements of the quality system within their area of control
* Be actively involved in HACCP for the site
* Be actively involved in complaints and their analysis
* Complete GMP audit in the area of responsibility, analyse any gaps
Efficiency / continuous Improvement: To be aware of historic and current operational performance of the site and work towards continuous improvement by:
* To enable, mentor and coach the teams to successfully delivering the plan, giving them the tools to also develop actions plans
* To be an active participant in meetings to lead and measure performance such as the regular waste management meeting
* To lead and be active in 'Implementation Groups' that will look at continuous improvemen
People Management: To manage the teams on site team leaders and supervisors, including but limited to:
* Assessing capabilities of the team, both individual members and the team as a whole.
* To identify gaps and make necessary arrangements to fill those gaps
* Plan labour requirements
* Manage everyday people activities such as holiday requests, probation and performance reviews for direct reports and in a support function for Deputies,
* To carry out 1-2-1 reviews with direct reports
* Be involved in investigation, grievance, and disciplinary hearings where necessary
Planning:
* Participates in the development of the weekly production program, in conjunction with the Planning / Scheduling department
* Organizes the team to successfully deliver the plan
Process / NPD: To ensure our processes are regularly reviewed to identify areas of continuous improvement, not limited to:
* Good knowledge of site and company products
* Be proactive in the process of improving products
* Lead and set up trials as necessary
* Regularly check with the team that products are well developed and suitable for production
* Lead with NPD in scaling up and launch of new products
Maintenance
* Make sure that the team are trained to use the equipment safely and effectively
* Stop and report immediately any equipment failure
* Work closely with engineers to define daily priorities
Training and Qualifications
* Level 2 Health & Safety
* Level 2 Food Hygiene
* COSHH Certificate
* Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP)
* Allergen Awareness
Skills and Knowledge

* Ability to lead, manage and motivate people, strong leadership skills
* Competency in Microsoft Office
* Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
* Good working knowledge of food manufacturing
* Ability to carry out internal audits
* Understanding and experience of undertaking external audits and inspections i.e. BRC
* Excellent time management
