About the Role
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in borehole geomechanics, rock mechanics, and/or structural geology? Would you like to further your career at one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities and conduct fundamental research to support the Energy Transition?
The role is based at Geosolutions Leeds, an exciting new strategic initiative by the University of Leeds as part of its Climate Plan, aimed at refocusing research efforts. Geosolutions Leeds integrates expertise in geology, engineering, and social science to deliver a systems approach to energy geoscience aligned with Net Zero goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Professor Dave Healy and the Centre for Environmental Modelling and Computation (CEMAC) at Leeds.
* Quantify the geomechanical state of the UK subsurface by collating data from depleted oil and gas fields.
* Perform geomechanical analyses of reservoirs and caprocks.
* Develop mechanical earth models to inform an innovative Machine Learning approach using open access data from the North Sea Transition Authority.
Qualifications
* PhD in Geology or Geophysics.
* Experience in conducting geomechanical analyses of the subsurface using borehole data.
* A strong commitment to rigorous and well-documented results.
