Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Gartree, a category B Prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
HMP Gartree has a capacity of 1,965 male inmates. The pharmacy, part of the healthcare department, dispenses medication, orders supplies, rewrites prescriptions, controls stock and performs medication checks. The team consists of four staff members.
Bank hours and Pay
Bank Hours: Monday – Sunday, 7am – 5pm.
Hourly Bank Rate:
* Weekday – £21.76
* Weekends – £23.61

Main duties of the job
* Provide outstanding quality patient‑centred care. Seek, listen to and act on patient feedback to personalise care.
* Maintain patient medical records to agreed standard, ensuring SOPs are followed safely and orderly.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care within professional scope, including timely administration of medicines and analysing cost‑effective prescribing under the Health in Justice medicines policy.
* Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 or above, BTEC or equivalent.
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD).
* Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience.
* General GCSE education or equivalent.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ideal: experience in hospital, community or prison environment (not essential).
