Overview
Murphy is recruiting for a Logistics Supervisor to work with Murphy Plant at Hemel Hempstead. Murphy Plant is committed to delivering a plant hire service that is simple, safe, efficient and reliable. We manage and maintain more than £100 million worth of innovative, best in class plant, transport and specialist equipment across multiple sectors, with an inventory of over 15,000 assets and a comprehensive fleet including crawler cranes.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality transport operations and driver management within the Murphy Plant division.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that drivers comply with drivers’ hours, tachograph rules and speed limits.
* Report and record vehicle defects reported by drivers.
* Maintain accuracy of records for at least 15 months.
* Implement controls to prevent vehicle overloading.
* Ensure authorised vehicles are kept at the authorised operating centre(s) when not in use.
* Manage Human Capital activity related to HGV drivers in the region in line with Group HC processes.
* Ensure compliance with ADR Regulations; monitor DVSA OCRS and investigate roadside checks.
* Utilise the company vehicle tracker system for driver control.
* Attend FTA Transport Manager Seminars annually to stay up to date with transport legislation.
* Identify commercial efficiencies within the region to increase profitability.
* Improve customer experience and ensure JMS are serviced in line with Murphy’s customer service standards.
* Plan development of HGV drivers through periodic CPC training.
* Ensure Health & Safety incidents are reported in line with Group expectations.
Qualifications
* Must have previous logistics experience with technical experience in transport.
* Extensive knowledge of transport regulations.
* Experience in a construction/engineering or similar background is beneficial.
* Literate and numerate; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other office applications.
* Ability to handle emergencies and adjust team priorities and schedules as needed.
* Experience in managing people and developing talent.
