This globally recognised manufacturing organisation employs over 35,000 people at almost 100 facilities in over 20 countries and supplies key products to a number of high-profile OEMs. Due to continued demand, they are recruiting a permanent Machine Shop Supervisor to join the team in Bradford. Own transport is essential as the role is not on a regular public transport route.
Based in Bradford, the successful candidate will be able to commute from surrounding towns and cities including Leeds, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Halifax, Oldham, Pontefract, Barnsley and Castleford.
Key responsibilities
* Leadership: champion a positive workplace culture aligned with company values; support people development, onboarding, performance management, HR processes, and employee relations to ensure a flexible, engaged, and high-performing workforce
* Safety: lead and support safety and quality initiatives including risk assessments, audits, incident reporting and investigation, equipment troubleshooting, training delivery, and daily operational checks; ensure compliance with EHS, QMS, and manufacturing standards
* Quality: drive continuous improvement through lean methodologies; manage scrap reduction; support corrective actions for internal and external non-compliance issues
* Product Delivery: plan and track performance, including shift handovers, reporting, absence management, and support for business projects to ensure operational efficiency and target achievement
Qualifications
* Strong leadership skills with previous experience in a similar role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Ideal not essential: previous experience in a machining-focused environment or role within any industry
* Competent IT skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new processes, software, and procedures quickly
Working hours
37.33 hours per week, in a rotating 3-shift pattern:
* Week 1: Monday to Friday – 05:45 to 14:15
* Week 2: Monday to Friday – 13:45 to 22:15
* Week 3: Monday to Thursday – 21:45 to 06:15
Benefits
* Starting salary: up to £41,910 (up to £33k base + 27% shift allowance)
* Holiday entitlement: 33 days (incl. Bank Holidays), rising to 38 days with continued service
