Role description
Ready to launch your career in building surveying? At Gleeds, you’ll help shape, protect, and enhance the built environment while learning from experienced surveyors who are leaders in their field. From day one, you’ll be involved in diverse projects — supporting senior colleagues to deliver professional advice, technical expertise, and innovative solutions that exceed client expectations.
Our building surveyors make sure buildings are safe, in good condition, and meet all legal and environmental standards. Whether it’s identifying issues, managing repairs, or guiding property decisions - they’re the experts clients rely on.
* Inspections and reports: Survey buildings, spot issues like damp or structural damage, and produce detailed condition reports.
* Maintenance and refurbishment: Advise on repairs and renovations, manage refurbishment projects, and ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards.
* Design advice: Support design plans - especially for extensions or conversions - and ensure work meets planning and building regulations.
* Sustainability: Recommend energy-saving upgrades and help clients meet environmental and sustainability goals.
Your responsibilities
* Assist with feasibility studies, cost plans, and budget estimates.
* Support the preparation of designs, detailed specifications, and tender documentation.
* Help with planning and building regulation submissions.
* Carry out site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
* Contribute to surveys (including condition and schedules of condition).
* Support contract administration and compliance.
* Assist with party wall matters and dilapidations assessments.
* Evaluate tenders and provide reporting support.
* Use innovative tools, including drones and 360° digital reality capture, for surveys and site monitoring.
What we’re looking for
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Confidence with MS Office tools
* Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a team mindset
* Right to live and work in the UK
* A degree or masters (completed or completing by August 2026) within building surveying, surveying, construction, civil engineering, or building engineering.
