Are you a qualified CIMA or ACCA finance professional who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments? Do you enjoy building structure, driving consistency, and partnering across the business to deliver results?
We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Assistant Controller to oversee core elements of our Finance Controlling function — spanning Head Office, Projects, Capital, and Repair & Maintenance accounting, alongside managing a transactional finance team.
This is a high-visibility role within our Finance function, supporting critical decision-making and ensuring that key controls, reporting, and processes operate with integrity across all sites.
The Opportunity
As Assistant Financial Controller, you will:
* Maintain and enforce Finance controls and policies across multiple sites and Head Office.
* Review journals and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.
* Oversee Finance systems master data across all entities.
* Develop KPI reporting to track performance and ensure accountability in core processes.
* Support and coordinate Finance colleagues across Projects & Head Office, Asset Accounting, and Shared Services.
* Contribute to monthly management accounts, trial balance production, and financial performance analysis.
* Act as a deputy to the Financial Controller when required, stepping into leadership when necessary.
Leadership & Collaboration
You will manage a team of three direct reports, ensuring they are supported, motivated, and delivering high-quality outputs. You will work closely with stakeholders across plant locations and Head Office, so strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
Candidate Profile
You will be successful in this role if you are:
* Qualified in CIMA or ACCA with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
* Experienced in finance operations, business partnering, or controlling roles.
* Confident working with system-integrated purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash processes.
* Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
* Naturally proactive with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Comfortable managing multiple priorities and leading others with clarity and confidence.
What this role offers
* A broad and influential position with real ownership of finance processes.
* Exposure to multiple operational sites and senior business stakeholders.
* The opportunity to improve and future-proof the Controlling function.
* A supportive Financial Controller who will empower you to take initiative and step up.
