Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage.

Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings.

That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.

Overview

We are looking for a Cluster Manager to join our team in the Lindisfarne Priory Cluster in Northumberland. The role is full-time and permanent, working 36 hours per week and based primarily at Lindisfarne Priory, but travel to your other sites is essential. Working days and patterns will be changeable, depending on business needs, and weekend/bank holiday working is required.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded leader with a strong track record in managing visitor operations and leading dispersed teams to deliver high standards and financial performance. It offers the chance to inspire and develop teams, shape exceptional visitor experiences, drive profitability, and act as a visible ambassador for the organisation, all while influencing operations across multiple sites and making a meaningful impact within a values-led charity.

Responsibilities

* Lead the overall performance of Lindisfarne Priory, Dunstanburgh Castle and Warkworth Castle.
* Direct your team to deliver outstanding visitor experiences through excellent presentation, customer service and membership growth.
* Provide strong people leadership, full financial accountability and operational oversight.
* Ensure compliance, build effective stakeholder relationships and act as an ambassador for the organisation within the local community.
* Communicate effectively as a site representative and drive profitability through revenue growth and tight financial control.

Qualifications and experience

* Proven experience managing a visitor-facing operation
* Experience leading dispersed teams to deliver consistent, high-quality standards
* Demonstrated ability to drive profitability by achieving revenue targets and controlling costs
* Strong communication skills, with confidence representing sites to a range of audiences
* Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships
* Proven ability to create and embed a shared vision across a dispersed team
* Commitment to continuous personal and professional development

Interviews

Interviews will be on the 22nd of April 2026, in person at Belsay Hall.

Notes

If you would like to talk to us, e.g. about workplace adjustments or working patterns, please contact Charlotte Woolley, Belsay Hall Cluster Manager. No agencies, please.
