The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will support the Firm's Intellectual Property practice with a high volume of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on rapidly developing IP portfolios of global brands, requiring a global mindset and knowledge of different international requirements. The role involves collaborating with diverse teams worldwide, including technology teams, paralegals, lawyers, and partners, and managing relationships with local counsel and clients. The successful candidate will provide key support to senior professionals, ensuring reliable and high-quality work.

Main responsibilities:
* Support the Firm's Global IP practice on various matters including:
* Handling trademark formalities: pre-registration, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, and post-registration steps.
* Preparing client reports independently.
* Supporting global IP M&A activities: recording assignments, licenses, security interests, and registry changes, drafting legal documents, liaising with local counsel, and coordinating document execution.
* Conducting comprehensive IP asset due diligence using official registries and screening platforms.
* Supporting anti-counterfeiting programs: drafting guides, seizure notifications, filings, and liaising with infringers.
* Performing trademark searches and drafting reports.
* Providing trademark watching services.
* Developing legal expertise to support lawyers and clients effectively.
* Ensuring compliance with procedures and standards, managing deadlines, and proactively communicating workload issues.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree, 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with trade mark/IP experience (preferred).
* Passion for Intellectual Property and willingness to develop expertise.
* Authorization to work in the UK.

* CITMA qualification (advantage).
