Main duties of the job
* Providing medicines management services to patients within the prison with support from a prison service pharmacist.
* Administering medicines to patients against valid prescriptions, ensuring proper usage, and advising on medication use and healthy lifestyles.
* Dispensing prescriptions and stock items, supervising assistants, and managing stock control, including stock top-ups and expiry date reviews.

Job responsibilities
* Providing medicines optimization services in the prison.
* Administering medicines during designated times on a 7-day rota.
* Conducting medicines reconciliation upon prisoner admission.
* Supervising dispensary assistants and ensuring high standards of work in all settings.
* Supporting the Senior Prisons Technician with SOPs related to medicines optimization.

Applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting. You will need to provide proof of right to work, ID, address, and, if applicable, police certificates for overseas residence or criminal background checks, as detailed in the job posting.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
* Registration with GPhC as a pharmacy technician
* Evidence of CPD
* Working towards Accredited Checking or MM Technician Certificate
Experience
* At least 2 years’ experience in pharmacy
* Previous experience in prison or mental health pharmacy is desirable
Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of SOPs
* Proficiency with pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office
* Understanding of mental health and substance misuse treatments
* Problem-solving skills and initiative
