Overview

Leven & Beeford Medical Practice are looking for a Salaried GP (full or part time considered) to join our large (6 partner), friendly, fully dispensing practice based in the pleasant rural villages of Leven and Beeford. We can offer flexible hours, up to full time. Favourable salary, negotiable dependant on experience.


Job Summary

You will be delivering the full range of primary care services, ensuring the highest standards of care, working in a supportive environment. Manageable workload with average number of patients per session.

Leven and Beeford Medical Practice has a friendly team of staff who all go above and beyond to exceed patient expectations. We have a Good CQC rating with 'Outstanding' in Caring and 5 star feedback on I Want Great Care. We scored 91% overall in the National GP Survey 2024. We are based 13 miles from Hull, 7 miles from the market town of Beverley and 39 miles from York. We have quiet roads with easy access to the Yorkshire Wolds and Coast. Good schools are available locally.

We are part of the Yorkshire Coast and Wolds Primary Care Network.

Job Description

Job responsibilities:

* In accordance with the Practice rota, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations, Accurx consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, using current clinical guidelines, NICE/health pathways guidance.
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collect data for audit purposes.
* Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.

* Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines (e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
* A commitment to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
* Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
* Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
* Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
* Attending Practice meetings and training/events organised by the Practice or other agencies where appropriate.

Confidentiality:

* In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with sensitive information and have the right to expect privacy.
* Post-holders may have access to confidential information relating to patients, staff and the Practice and must treat all such information as confidential.
* Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues or the business may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with Practice policies and procedures.

Health & Safety:

* Use personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines.
* Maintain infection control standards and comply with national standards and professional requirements.
* Provide guidance on safe management of specimens, PPE use, infection control procedures, hand hygiene, sharps management, and related practices.
* Identify and escalate health & safety hazards, participate in infection control training, and maintain a clean work environment.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children where appropriate.

The Post-holder Will:

* Apply practice policies, standards and guidance.
* Discuss with team how policies will affect own work.
* Participate in audit where appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications – Essential

* Qualified GP – MBBS (or equivalent)
* MRCGP
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
* Full GMC Registration
* National Performers List registration
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Experience of continued professional development

Desirable

* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit
* Experience of medicines management
* General understanding of the GMS/PMS contract

Knowledge & Skills – Essential

* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
* Clear, polite telephone manner
* Effective time management
* Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Problem solving & analytical skills
* Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
* Experience of using EMIS clinical system (Desirable)
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook (Desirable)
* Experience with audit (Desirable)
