We define what 'good' looks like by translating business intelligence, operational insight and industry best practice into clear, practical engineering standards. These standards shape every stage of design and delivery - driving safety, consistency, efficiency and sustainability across our capital programme.The RoleWe are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Engineering Standards and Products Manager to lead our Standards and Products Team.As custodian of Anglian Water's asset standards, you will own the strategic direction, governance and continuous improvement of our Minimum Asset Standards (MAS), Design Manuals and Standard Products. Your work will directly influence how assets are designed, constructed and handed over - balancing cost, carbon, performance, safety and long-term resilience.You will lead a team of engineers and specialists, setting clear priorities and providing strong technical leadership.
Working across Anglian Water and with our delivery alliances, you will ensure standards are practical, trusted, consistently applied and ready to evolve as technology, regulation and business needs change.This is a senior technical leadership role with significant influence across the capital delivery lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and Deliver StrategySet and deliver the strategic direction for Anglian Water's engineering standards and standard products. Ensure alignment with the Chief Engineer's Office, Commercial Operations and our alliance partners. Lead team priorities, manage external relationships and foster a culture grounded in safety, professionalism and technical excellence.Maintain and Improve StandardsOversee the continuous improvement of our Minimum Asset Standards (MAS), Design Manuals and Specifications.
Ensure alignment with national and international standards (including CESWI, WIMES and British Standards), while capturing lessons learned, innovation and best practice from across the industry.Standard Products DevelopmentLead the development and governance of standard products and proven designs, working closely with engineering, innovation and procurement teams. Drive adoption of standard solutions that improve quality, reduce cost and carbon, and support safe, efficient construction and operation.Governance and CollaborationOperate clear, robust governance processes so standards are well-evidenced, transparent and trusted.This role requires active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders - including designers, construction teams, operators, commercial teams, regulators and alliance partners, gathering diverse inputs and balancing competing perspectives to arrive at well-judged, practical decisions. Success in the role depends on combining strong technical judgement with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.Communicate, Educate and InspireChampion the value of standardisation.
Promote understanding and adoption of standards through clear communication, accessible systems and targeted training. Ensure engineers, designers and partners understand not just what the standards are, but why they matter.Who We're Looking ForYou will be an accomplished engineering professional with experience providing technical leadership, leading teams and operating within structured governance environments.
