The Role
We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive Caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the school site, ensuring it is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The postholder will live on-site to fulfil the unsociable aspects of the role, including emergency callouts and out-of-hours security.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overseeing the safety, maintenance, cleanliness and security of the school site
2. Managing contractors, coordinating health and safety matters, ensuring effective fire evacuation procedures, and overseeing fixed-term projects for maintenance and increasing pupil capacity
About You
3. Previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience is required for this role
4. Previous caretaker experience in a school setting would be advantageous
5. Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
6. Understanding of, or willingness to work within, an SEN school environment
7. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
8. Good communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude
9. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
