Children attending a pupil referral unit present with social, emotional & mental health difficulties, ranging from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4. The role involves providing stability, education, and empowerment, considering each learner's individualised, differentiated learning styles to ensure social, emotional, and educational integration.
The initial assignment will assess your fit within the setting, requiring full commitment and enthusiasm to make a difference. Willingness to use your initiative and stand out is essential. Job Description:
* Operate within professional ethical and school policies when working with pupils.
* Encourage and support staff positively; use restraint training when managing escalating behaviours.
* Support pupils through crises and help them deal with consequences.
* Assist with social and educational integration of pupils.
* Maintain good relationships with staff.
* Empower pupils and promote positive social and emotional regulation.
* Support pupils to stay focused and complete tasks.
* Develop trusting relationships with pupils.
* Listen and offer appropriate support.
* Provide behavioural records and reports as required.
Job Specification:
* At least 6 months experience in a pupil referral unit, alternative provision, or similar setting.
* Level one or above Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Proactive approach.
* Flexible with work patterns.
* Team Teach training desirable; training provided.
* Competitive daily rate GBP 98-115.
* Enhanced DBS subscribed to update service or willing to apply.
