We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed individual to be a Family Practitioner based in Family Safeguarding East.
About the role
Family Practitioners deliver parenting programmes and support children and young people who meet the criteria for a Child in Need assessment and support. Each Family Practitioner will be assigned a number of children and families, working under the guidance of the Team Manager and Consultant Social Worker.
You will work closely with children, parents, extended family, and partner agencies to contribute to the development of the overall service.
This varied role involves:
1. Visiting children and families to gather information about their needs, strengths, wishes, and feelings, alongside partner agencies and existing information.
2. Completing genograms, ecomaps, and chronologies with families to inform assessments and support networks.
3. Gathering and analyzing information in partnership with parents, carers, non-resident parents, extended family, and partner agencies.
4. Using assessment and intervention tools to evaluate needs and strengths, and support families through change.
5. Compiling and analyzing information within Child and Family Assessments or Family Safeguarding Parenting programmes, and developing recommended plans with families and line managers.
6. Ensuring all work with families is recorded accurately and promptly in children’s electronic case records (LCS).
Preferred previous experience includes roles involving interaction with children and families, such as teaching assistants, youth support workers, nursery workers, Children’s Practitioners, or family centre workers.
A working knowledge of safeguarding thresholds is beneficial, but training will be provided.
You should have the ability to relay accurate information and concerns in a timely and sensitive manner, with the drive and flexibility to offer high-quality services.
It is essential to have a secure knowledge of safeguarding and the confidence to recognize and respond to concerns.
You should be capable of collating and analyzing information to produce high-quality assessments, action plans, and reports, with support from the Team CSW and Manager.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as the role involves travel around Hertfordshire. This position requires a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
Fluency in English is essential, with the ability to communicate effectively with the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English. For those using a signed language, a sign language interpreter fluent in English will be necessary.
