Protection & Control Engineer (Energy)
WSP UK & Ireland is looking for a Protection & Control Engineer to join our UK Energy business. The role focuses on delivering power transmission infrastructure to help the UK achieve Net Zero.

* Design protection and control systems for electrical power transmission and distribution networks.
* Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and ETAP.
* Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure reliability and performance.
* Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
* Conduct site surveys and assessments for design purposes.
* Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and construction teams.
* Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
* Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in protection and control technology.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
* Proven experience designing protection and control schemes.
* Knowledge of electrical networks and engineering standards.
* Experience interpreting technical documentation.
* Experience with main suppliers’ substation control equipment (ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
* Experience with IEC 61850, IEC 60870.
* Preferable: Chartered Engineer status.
* Preferable: National Grid BP141 authorisation.
