Job Description:
The Police Lieutenant is responsible for direction, planning, organization, staffing, and control of Sergeants, patrol officers and other subordinates within the Old Dominion University Police Department (sworn and non-sworn). Minimum Qualifications:
Considerable knowledge of and skills in modern police practices and techniques.
Considerable knowledge of leadership principles and management techniques.
Strong working knowledge of investigative techniques and practices. Considerable knowledge of Virginia and applicable federal laws. Considerable working knowledge of administrative functions in areas of policy and police supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct the efforts relating to law enforcement operations.
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and interpret written instructions, and work independently to solve problems involving many variables.Additional Considerations:
