Our team is developing an advanced system utilizing Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to provide engaging, intuitive, and adaptive content recommendations across all Amazon surfaces. Our goal is to enable seamless reasoning and customer experiences that surpass previous machine learning models.
We seek a passionate, talented, and resourceful Applied Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Recommender Systems, and/or Information Retrieval. The role involves inventing and building scalable solutions for a state-of-the-art context-aware speech assistant. The ideal candidate will have a strong machine learning background and a desire to innovate in these areas. They should enjoy working in dynamic environments, be self-motivated to tackle challenging problems, and focus on delivering significant customer impact through rapid experimentation and iteration based on user feedback.
Key job responsibilities
As an Applied Scientist, you will collaborate with other scientists and engineers to develop novel algorithms that enable timely, relevant, and delightful recommendations and conversations. Your work will directly influence our customers through products and services utilizing machine learning, deep learning, and language model technologies. You will leverage Amazon’s diverse data sources and large-scale computing resources to advance the state of the art.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* PhD, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications
* 3+ years of experience in developing models for business use
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics, with specialties in NLP, recommendation systems, or information retrieval
* 2+ years of experience building machine learning or deep learning models for large-scale customer-facing products or features
* Publications in peer-reviewed NLP/ML conferences (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI)
* Strong software development skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
