The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs in a secondary school setting. The role involves assisting students in accessing the curriculum, fostering independence, and promoting a positive learning environment. Duties may include one-to-one support, small group work, and general classroom assistance to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEN or additional needs in the classroom.
Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
Provide emotional and behavioral support as needed.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and parents to monitor progress.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people or SEN (preferred).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Passion for education and working with young people.
Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
Commitment to safeguarding children.
Desirable:
Experience in schools or with young people.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate).
Experience with SEN or EAL students.
