We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic individual to join our Planning Applications team. You will carry out a range of functions within the planning administrative team to support the processing of planning applications and submissions under planning legislation. This is an exciting career opportunity for those interested in shaping the built environment for existing and future communities in the district.
Main Duties:
To carry out administrative duties including entering details into the planning database of new planning cases, scanning, printing and indexing plans.
To carry out searches of planning history and policies as required.
To answer telephone enquiries from the Public as to whether planning permission is required and technical queries about the planning application process
To provide written advice to members of the public including professional agents and solicitors on enquiries in relation to planning.
To carry out general administrative functions to support the planning officers in their determination of planning applications including but not limited to preparing files for scanning, filing and acknowledging representations.
To manage the validation of tree cases and pre application enquiries
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the character of the job as may reasonably be required, from time to time, within the Department.
Essential Requirements:
Basic knowledge of the planning system and the role of local government
Excellent communication and persuasive skills
Ability to explain sometimes complex technical information and procedures in simple terms to the public
Experience of using databases and document management systems.
Hybrid working considered.
