Biocomposites, Ltd. is an international medical devices company that engineers, manufactures, and markets world leading products for infection management in bone and soft tissue. Based in Keele, Staffordshire, UK, we operate worldwide.
The Production Supervisor leads operations and manufacturing processes, supervising team members to ensure efficient delivery of products while meeting industry standards.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the quality of all production outputs ensuring appropriate quality standards are maintained and improved.
* Organise workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules in conjunction with or independently of the Production Manager.
* Ensure that all staff in your team are trained in and adhere to relevant SOPs and EHS guidelines.
* Ensure that all materials, including consumables, are available ahead of manufacturing requirements.
* Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
* Work with the quality department to root‑cause issues and implement corrective action.
* Responsible for Batch Record Reviews, ensuring Quality Right‑First‑Time.
* Record, report, and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics and KPIs.
* Ensure appropriate training of all production staff, maintaining required staffing to meet demand; report deficiencies to the Production Manager.
* Highlight improvement ideas and, with the Production Manager, establish initiatives that can be managed through production staff or technical support.
* When required, work as an operator to help achieve departmental schedules and goals.
* Perform any ad‑hoc requests from the production manager to support departmental objectives, e.g., project work, liaison with other departments, process improvement initiatives, roster creation.
* Ensure safe use of equipment and enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards.
* Report safety issues through required documentation and work with the Health & Safety coordinator to maintain and improve H&S.
* Create and complete annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
* Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Comply with all Biocomposites policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Required Experience
* Level 4 in Management or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience within a Production Supervisor role or equivalent.
* IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice.
* People management skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to take initiative in a controlled working environment.
* Ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail and strong organisation.
