Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dog Day Care Assistant to join our friendly team to cover Maternity Leave. This role involves caring for dogs in a safe and stimulating environment, ensuring their wellbeing and happiness throughout their stay. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks. This position offers an engaging opportunity to work closely with animals while providing exceptional care and support to pet owners. You will also take of of one of our Dog Pick up/Drop Home vans to collect dogs from their homes in the morning and drop home again late afternoon.
Responsibilities
* Supervising dogs during playtime and rest periods, ensuring a safe environment for all animals
* Collecting dogs from their homes and talking home at the end of the day
* Feeding, administering medication, and providing basic grooming as required
* Monitoring dog behaviour and recognising signs of distress or illness
* Cleaning play areas, and equipment to maintain high standards of hygiene
* Assisting with intake and collection of dogs, including checking health records and updating client information
* Engaging dogs in enrichment activities to promote mental stimulation and physical exercise
* Providing excellent customer service by addressing pet owners' inquiries and updates on their pets' wellbeing
* Assisting with organisational tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate records
Skills
* Previous animal care background or suitable qualification is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of dog behaviour and needs
* Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
* Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling supplies or assisting with dog transfers
* Organised with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment
* Compassionate attitude towards animals and pet owners alike
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written
* Physically fit, capable of standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks
* Full UK Driving Licence required

Contract length: 9 months
Pay: Up to £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37.5 per week
