Hamwattan Centre is a registered charitable organisation, runs an elderly day Centre in a busy, multi-cultural inner city area of Leeds. Various services are running for the older people which include physical activities, yoga, peer support group, healthy living activities,social care information and luncheon to name a few. The aim of Hamwattan Centre is to work together to improve the quality of life of older people in Leeds Hamwattan Centre main funding is provided by Leeds City Council, Adult Social Care with various small funding streams. Under the current management, the Centre has been serving the community for the past 5 years. Currently the management committee of Hamwattan Centre are keen to recruit Male/Female Sessional Worker to further develop the services for the elderly Asian community. Both sessional worker will assist the Manager in day to day smooth running of the Hamwattan Centre at a high professional manner and prioritise the activities of the Centre in line with changing needs of the community. The office is based in Apna Centre, 5-11, Hares View. Job Purpose: To be responsible for the delivery of the smooth, effective and efficient service provided by HC. To assist in further develop and sustain the Hamwattan Centre in order to improve the quality of life and reduce isolation of older people living in Harehills area of Leeds. To assist in the effective co-ordination of activities and services delivered from within the respective projects and the future development and sustainability of the work. The postholder will undertake the duties outlined below as a female/male daycare sessional worker for the Hamwattan Centre Elderly Daycare women's group provision. The role will work positively towards understanding the need to promote the privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment of all clients, treating everyone with respect.
Main responsibilities:
1. Arranging the room for each session
2. Ensuring refreshments are available i.e. hot water, tea bags, coffee, milk, etc.
3. Completing the daily register of service users, volunteers and visitors
4. Monitoring absences and contacting relevant individuals to enquire about reasons for absence
5. Preparation of tables for the luncheon club
6. Serving food to service users
7. Ensuring Health and safety requirements are fully adhered to during all sessions
8. Supporting the other sessional worker, cook, etc. as and when required
9. Managing volunteers supporting the delivery of the session
10. Co-ordinating and arranging sessional activities
11. Collection of all monies for luncheon club and other activities
12. Mentoring volunteers
13. Providing monthly update reports detailing range of activities delivered
14. Consulting service users regarding service provision including the development of menus', provision of new activities, future plans, etc.
15. Developing new activities and activity sessions including income and expenditure budget planning
16. Planning and Organising trips and other outings in line with relevant policies and procedures
17. Working towards the ethos and aims of Hamwattan Centre
18. Marketing and promoting the provision and encouraging new participants to join the service
19. Communicating effectively and positively with key stakeholders
20. Maintaining a membership list for the daycare provision
21. Contributing towards efficiency by effectively monitoring service user outcome
