Offer description

We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Relief Worker to play a pivotal role in our Modern Slavery Response Service in London.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

This role provides proactive support to clients who have received a positive reasonable grounds decision under the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), delivered through both outreach and safe house accommodation. You will advocate for clients' rights, complete initial assessments, manage risks, and
implement safeguarding measures, while responding to urgent needs such as subsistence, homelessness, or medical support.
The role requires participation in a rota system (9am–10pm, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays), handling new referrals, and delivering emergency interventions. Strong knowledge of public and private sector services is essential to signpost clients effectively. Accurate recordkeeping, incident reporting, and regular communication with managers ensure compliance and high-quality service delivery

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

Here's what the team will be looking for

You will have experience of working with adults with substance misuse issues and mental ill health, with the ability to remain calm and provide effective support in times of crisis. You will be confident in providing information about rights, offering impartial advice, and advocating on behalf of clients, while maintaining safe practice when lone working. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners will be essential.

Alongside this, you will demonstrate the ability to use databases, maintain accurate electronic records of support work, and manage financial transactions effectively. You will bring knowledge of the criminal justice system, immigration law, and safeguarding responsibilities for both adults and children, alongside experience of coordinating support with statutory and voluntary agencies. A strong understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them appropriately will underpin your work.

Interview Steps

We keep our interview process simple, so you know exactly what to expect.

* Shortlisting call: We have a team of dedicated recruitment specialists who will speak to you about your experience, motivations and values. They will also tell you about all the great work we do!
* Face to face interview: Now you will have face to face interview with the hiring manager. Our interviews are value and competency based.

Don't be alarmed if there are other stages in the process, it's all part of the plan for some of our roles.
