The Company:
Roy Lowe & Sons Ltd is an established importer of socks and tights, specialising in licensed and technical hosiery, supplying many of the UK high street retailers, grocers and e-tailers. We are looking for a Technical, Sourcing and Sustainability Assistant to join our small but friendly and ambitious team.
The Role:
To provide comprehensive support to our Technical Director, in maintaining product compliance, overseeing certification management, coordinating testing and sample processes, and ensuring adherence to applicable ethical, environmental, and legal standards. To ensure that Roy Lowe and Sons Ltd and the Roy's Boys Brand ethos, documentation and procedures remain current, accurate, and fully aligned with legislative requirements (both in the UK and the EU), internal policies, and the expectations of our retail partners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Compliance & Product Integrity - Risk assessments, product sizing and fits, inline and final inspections, product testing requirements.
* Sourcing - Liaising with new and existing factory relationships, ensuring ethical and technical compliance to meet audit and customer requirements.
* Ethical and Sustainability Compliance - updating ethical and sourcing logs. Researching and ensuring we keep up to date with relevant legislation changes and customer requirements. Guide our sustainability and carbon strategy, monitoring sustainability KPIs and ESG metrics.
* Certification Management - ensure our supply base keeps relevant certifications renewed, oversee the company BCI platform.
* Sample/Testing Management & Administration - handle sample requests, product specifications, product costings.
You will:
* Have an open and willing attitude to learn, using your own initiative alongside guidance from the technical director.
* Have a basic understanding of knitting, fabric construction or textile manufacturing. Sock specific knowledge is advantageous but not necessary as training will be given.
* Have a keen interest in textiles (particularly socks) and manufacturing techniques. Again, knowledge isn't essential as training will be given.
* Be open to travelling overseas to visit our supply base as and when required.
* Be an organised and effective communicator.
* Be an effective team contributor.
* Have a high level of awareness and sense of urgency.
