As a borough, we are committed at a commissioning and senior leadership level to continue to build on this experience and we aspire to provide our children and young people in care with high quality, trauma‑informed services, including access to assessment and psychological therapies provided in a timely manner.
We are pleased to offer this fixed term opportunity to lead our recently commissioned team in Bury which is co-located within Children’s Services. We are looking for a dynamic and clinically experienced clinical psychologist to lead this initiative and to work closely with the Head of Service for Family Safeguarding in developing this offer.
Family Safeguarding team is based in Bury Council Children's services. The teams work with children and families to help and support them in change. They work with Children in Need, Children subject to Child Protection Plans, Children subject to Pre‑proceedings. The teams use a partnership approach to support parents, families and carers experiencing the challenges of domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse. The purpose of the team is to tackle the impact of abuse and neglect from within the family on children’s welfare and where appropriate, to promote the upbringing of children by their families. They use a Motivational Interviewing model of practice, aim to work collaboratively with families, respect families’ rights, follow guidance and law, and take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the newly commissioned Family Safeguarding Clinical Psychology team.
* Work closely with the Head of Service for Family Safeguarding to develop the offer.
* Provide assessment and psychological therapies to children and families in need.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across Children’s Services, education and VCSE sector.
Key Qualifications
* Senior clinical psychologist (level B7–B8).
* Experience working with child protection and safeguarding.
