This is a temporary post for 12 months.
We are working to support the most vulnerable young people, and their families, safely in their community through the No Wrong Door approach, developed by North Yorkshire County Council. We have adapted it locally to meet the needs of our children, young people and families. Our young people named it” Our Place”. The model drives our approach to providing multi-agency support to young people aged nine plus who are in care, on the edge of care or edging towards care, with the goal of providing permanence in a family setting. We use relational and restorative approaches to ensure we are working with young people, listening to be sure we understand and working at young people’s pace to support them to thrive and achieve their full potential.
The service is based in the Our Place Hub and provides
A residential component, (rated good by Ofsted in Febuary 2025)
A responsive and flexible outreach support
Bespoke packages of care
We are looking for an inspiring, imaginative deputy manager and leader. You really want to make a difference in children’s lives and will help drive our approach to providing multiagency support to young people aged nine plus using relational practice and drawing on trauma informed and restorative approaches. You will take the lead on ensuring that our residential Hub is “more than good enough for your child” and work with the team around the child to provide permanence in a family setting for them.
You will support the Hub manager in the day to day running of the service, working as part of our multi-disciplinary Hub Team comprising two deputy managers, key workers, portfolio leads, foster carers, a clinical psychologist (life coach), speech and language therapist (communication worker), a police officer and data analysts. You will support the manager and team to meet the children’s home regulations and quality standards, and provide responsive and flexible outreach support.
You will have:
Extensive experience and understanding of working with vulnerable young people with complex needs
A “can do” approach that encompasses creative solutions that supports each young person to realise their dreams and reach for the stars
High levels of persistence and drive to do the right thing
Real passion, commitment and drive to develop strong and trusting relationships as the basis for sustainable change.
Either have or be willing to gain the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care for Children and Young people
At least 5 years of childcare work (including working with families)
As an experienced residential leader, working with the Hub leadership team and specialist workers you must have the skills and confidence to manage complex plans and resources to reduce risk and maintain young people safely within their family and community. This will include supervision, direction and management of key staff, including at times the specialist roles.
In return, you will be joining a vibrant and supportive team, and strong partnership who are passionately embracing this way of working as our whole system approach to working differently with young people.
Hopefully we’ve sparked your interest in Our Place and the real difference you could make to young people in this role. If you think this is the job for you, please contact Team manager Courtney Smith, at courtney.smith@rochdale.gov.uk, or on 07918048222.
We look forward to hearing from you and joining team Rochdale!
