Our client, a leading defence and engineering organisation, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth. This is a permanent role requiring UK Security Clearance (SC). Applicants must have full UK working rights — visa holders or students cannot be considered. You’ll be working on a variety of exciting projects, contributing to the design and documentation of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and supporting system integration from concept through to delivery. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain engineering drawings, schematics, and cable routing diagrams using CAD/AutoCAD. Conduct load analysis, system design, and power distribution planning. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver integration and installation designs. Support project delivery by providing technical documentation and responding to design queries. Skills & Experience Proficient in CAD/AutoCAD Experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer (preferably in a marine, naval, or defence environment). Can work independently on smaller projects or as part of a team on larger ones. Have good understanding of defence/marine standards Experience preparing technical drawings and engineering documentation. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Candidates should have a minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in electrical design and be keen to develop and grow within a leading defence engineering organisation Qualifications HNC/HND, ONC, or Degree (BEng/BSc) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
