High Voltage O&M Engineer – Scotland (Linlithgow)
Role: Due to our continuing growth we have an exciting opportunity for a High Voltage O&M Engineer to join our growing team of professionals. This position is approximately 70% site based and 30% office based. The work will include travel to locations throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK as required. Responsibilities will include electrical operations and maintenance activities (LV and HV) on various sites throughout the UK. The appropriate candidate will be rewarded with a salary commensurate with the level of knowledge, experience, and qualifications they possess. This role is ideal for somebody with a strong electrical background, but we will offer the additional training required for specialist activities such as high voltage switching and electrical testing. We welcome applications from excellent engineers from a range of engineering backgrounds.
Duties:
1. To carry out operation, maintenance, installation, fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems associated with private generator connections (LV and HV).
2. Senior Authorised Person duties up to 33kV, and possibly higher to 400kV.
3. Manage electrical safe systems of work on operational sites such as wind farms, solar farms and battery storage sites.
4. Producing risk assessments and method statements for operation and maintenance tasks.
5. Travel throughout Scotland and the UK on a regular basis for a period of up to 5 days at a time dependent on business requirements.
6. Ensuring works are compliant with applicable regulations and best industry practices.
7. Provide emergency (standby) response.
8. Producing technical maintenance and call out reports.
9. Auditing of HV/LV electrical installations.
Essential Requirements:
An apprenticeship or an equivalent formal training programme in an engineering discipline with 3 years post experience. Good level of Electrical knowledge. High voltage knowledge and experience. Understanding of health and safety legislation in the UK and how it applies to electrical works. Ability to read detailed electrical drawings along with problem solving skills necessary for electrical fault finding and repair. IT literate with the ability to carry out effective report writing using Office applications. Full UK Driving License and willingness to travel throughout Ireland and the UK.
Desirable Requirements:
HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering. High Voltage experience up to 33kV with previously held HV authorisation. Experience of project engineering/management. Experience of working in the renewables sector.
Package:
Excellent salary £45,000.00 to £55,000.00/year depending on experience. Excellent career progression potential. Overtime potential. Annual bonus.
