:
The jobholder is expected to coordinate the logistical operations of the collection operations of the business and coordinate these with the individual sites in accordance with company standards and the legal requirements of the post. The post includes being appointed as the legal Transport Manager of a contingency site in case of any major business factor that may require its use.
Initially there will be a 3 to 6 month handover period with the incumbent Transport Manager to ensure a smooth transition and ensure a high level of support is given to the new appointee. During this period the appointee will be required to be appointed on the East of England Operators License.
*Health & Safety Overview: *
Every individual has a responsibility for Health & Safety. The jobholder must ensure that his/her actions do not put oneself and others at risk,and cooperate fully with the company in respect to Health & Safety.
To control and manage the companies transport fleet to comply with the legal constraints ('O' license, Maintenance and driver control / discipline).
Ensure company procedures are complied and adhered to for all aspects of the Transport Operation. Coordinate and monitor effective training on all direct reports.
Be the responsible person for Health & Safety with regards to the Transport Operation and the drivers that work with the associated sites.
You are responsible for ensuring all accidents accidents and near-misses are reported to your line manager immediately. Complete the formal investigation and lead the corrective action process.
To ensure all company drivers and contractors comply with the Company policies & Procedures on Bio-Security, Hygiene and Health & Safety.
The licence holder undertakes to make the proper arrangements so that:
* The rules on drivers' hours and tachographs are observed and proper records kept.
* Motor vehicles and trailers are not overloaded.
* Vehicles will operate within speed limits.
* Motor vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept fit and serviceable.
* Drivers report promptly any defects or symptoms or defects that could prevent safe operation of vehicles and/or trailers, and that any defects are promptly recorded in writing.
* Records are kept (for 15 months) of all driver defect reports, all safety inspections, routine maintenance and repairs to vehicles and trailers and these are made available on request
* In respect of each operating centre specified, that the number of authorised motor vehicles and the number of authorised trailers kept there will not exceed the maximum numbers recorded against the operating centre in this licence.
* Vehicle heights and planning are coordinated to avoid Bridge strikes
*Essential Duties And Responsibilities: *
A specific role within the job is to coordinate the introduction of the new ERP software system : Ovovision. This will involve ensuring that the system is capable of replacing the current Mnetics system without any disruption and developing the new system to ensure:-
* Company plastics stocks at farm can be managed in real time. Visibility of stock required and stock on site by each farm house. Stock reconciliation to have visibility of stock use against forecast.
* Essential planning data can be incorporated into the system to allow for a seamless operating plan which provides accurate visibility of depletion and restocking dates and optimises the operating plan to reduce kms by each site. This to include outbound loads by site.
The following is a list of core responsibilities to be completed by the jobholder. Other duties may be assigned.

Efficient use of the company's fleet & resources
Performance Measures ( ideally these will be generated by automatic reports from the new software system.).
Vehicle Utilisation outbound and inbound vehicle fill by site and vehicle with customers visibility.
Vehicle costs/damage and repair costs per km covered.
Fuel – Km/L covered per vehicle or driver.
Labour – Direct labour costs per Km & per case by delivery notes – agency against own labour – driving time against non driving time.
Control and reconciliation of fuel stocks.
Other appropriate KPI's.
To be responsible for recruitment of drivers to ensure the correct resource is available at all times.
Work within the agreed budget headcount and ensure Drivers are appropriately managed to deliver the companies products at the optimum costs.
To be responsible for the selection, control & usage of contractors ensuring these are used in line with the correct procedures.
Manage the company's distribution operations in accordance with legal constraints.

Audits against the legal standard
Drivers' infringements EU regulations and WTD.
PG9's – Prohibition notices.
'O' licence restrictions, ensure that vehicles are maintained in line with operator licence requirements.
To proactively plan the company's transport operation ensuring customer satisfaction.

On time in full (number of stock run outs at farms with regard to packaging deliveries).
* Lost time at the site due to no ungraded stock.
* Product quality, temperature and delivered plastics included.
* Internal customer satisfaction achieved.
* Coordinate the day to day logistical operations at Thornton Packing centre liaising with other departments as necessary.
