Overview
Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Radio Communications Technician to join the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC).
Location: Culham, Oxfordshire (office based, some travel may be required - travel fully funded). Salary: £35,854–£39,929 plus a £2,000 South East allowance per annum. Contract: Permanent, full-time 37.5 hours per week.
The Operational Communications Team is responsible for the management, provision, and support of mission-critical voice communications systems (currently Airwave TETRA) used by frontline police officers, control room staff and partnership agencies. This includes ensuring security of assets, contract and service management, interoperability with other emergency services and agencies. The team prepares for ESN (Emergency Services Network) while delivering a BAU service capability and projects within CNCs Project Portfolio and Ambition work.
The most significant project is ESN, Airwave’s replacement. The role provides technical and subject matter expertise and promotes emerging technologies to support current and future operational communications within the CNC.
Responsibilities
* Plan, implement and deliver specific work streams/projects in support of the Operational Communications Strategy and CNC initiatives, across Business as Usual and Change (Projects) contexts.
* Resolve faults and issues relating to devices fitted in vehicles, site-specific and specialist Ops Comms kit and equipment.
* Provide an intelligent delivery function and additional resilience to support team activities.
* Apply best practices such as ITIL, Lean Six Sigma and Prince 2 to engage in and drive OC workstreams and projects to a successful conclusion.
Technical / Specialist
* Understand technical and contextual issues and articulate requirements clearly.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of the OC teams functional areas, including break/fix, helpdesk monitoring, auditing, reprogramming and other specialist activities to provide resilience.
* Respond to issues with timely resolutions, including potential site visits to Operational Units.
* Provide tactical and operational guidance, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
* Maintain knowledge of Airwave and Operational Communications issues, best practices, and standards.
* Develop knowledge of ESN and its rollout as Airwave is replaced in the next five years.
Knowledge & Skills Required
* Vocational qualification or work experience in Radio Engineering or related technical discipline.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Experience in planning, documentation, impact assessments and change control.
* Experience installing, integrating and maintaining technical radio or communications systems in a service role.
* Understanding of project lifecycle and methodologies such as Prince 2, ITIL and Lean Six Sigma; ability to apply them effectively.
* Experience capturing and communicating issues, risks, impacts, requirements and outcomes.
* Ability to organize workload, set priorities and deadlines; proactive and able to adapt to competing priorities.
