To train as a student sonographer within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, to complete the post graduate certificate and post graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound, becoming an autonomous practitioner contributing to the sonographer led service.
To undertake all of the required clinical caseload of the Trust other than the most complex interventions which are carried out by medical staff members. To be in a position to manage the patients pathway associated with their individual designated referrals, providing a comprehensive report of the findings (seeking appropriate advice if required) and ensuring it is communicated to appropriate clinicians.

This role is eligible for the application of Agenda for Change Annex 30 pay preservation. Those employees or new entrants to the organisation who are eligible, would have their existing pay preserved, including their existing pay progression, including the enhancement pay rate of their preserved role, until they qualify, or until they reach the threshold where their apprenticeship pay would be in excess of the preserved pay, i.e. in the case of annex 21 contracts. Eligible applicants include those who are moving from a substantive role into a fixed term direct entry apprenticeship, within the same staff group, where the qualified pay rate is the same or higher than the preserved pay

The post holder will also undertake all of the required clinical caseload supported by a ultrasound practitioner within the Trust. The successful candidate will be supported to manage the patients pathway associated with their individual designated referrals, providing a comprehensive report of the findings (seeking appropriate advice if required) and ensuring it is communicated to appropriate clinicians.
The post holder will take responsibility for image archiving and electronic data management generated during the procedure.
