Location: Higford School – Shropshire TF11 9ET. Salary: up to £53,200 pro rata DOE (basic grade SALT from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+, Highly Specialist from £48,000+). Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours. Contract: Permanent (term time only, or flexibility around a full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances).
We are a multidisciplinary clinical team within an education setting, focused on delivering speech and language therapy and contributing to a broader network that supports growth and development for pupils and staff.
Responsibilities
* Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Deliver bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
* Work collaboratively with education teams in line with the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Develop and participate in an enhanced speech and language therapy offer, supporting apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
* Maintain a person-centred, safeguarding-focused approach with pupils, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
* Support CPD goals and ongoing professional development (CPD) with a £2,000 training allowance after probation.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered and 1-2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
* Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles; knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary settings and communicating with families/caregivers.
* Good relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; strong oral and written communication; good time management and organisational skills.
* Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans; understanding of relevant legislation for clinical practice and management.
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group; ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may affect communication.
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
